Lifespan vs. Healthspan: Living Longer—and Living Well

Friday, October 23, 2026

We are excited to announce the first class in our expanded Empty Cup Wellness educational series.

Most of us understand lifespan as the number of years we live. But healthspan asks a different—and equally important—question:

How many of those years are we able to live with strength, mobility, independence, energy, and meaningful engagement in our lives?

Modern medicine has helped people live longer, but additional years do not always mean additional years of good health. Chronic discomfort, limited mobility, declining strength, low energy, stress, confusing health information, and disconnected care can gradually reduce our quality of life.

In this free one-hour class, we will explore the difference between lifespan and healthspan—and why the choices we make now can influence how we feel, move, and function in the years ahead.

Topics will include:

  • The difference between lifespan and healthspan

  • The factors that can influence long-term health and independence

  • Why strength, balance, mobility, nourishment, sleep, stress, and social connection all matter

  • How small, sustainable choices can support healthier aging

  • Why collecting more wellness advice is not always the answer

  • How to identify which areas of your well-being may need greater attention

  • The value of creating a coordinated, personalized wellness direction

Introducing the Wellness Strategist Role

This class will also introduce Heidi’s expanded role as a Wellness Strategist and explain how this approach can help you make sense of your health and wellness options.

Many people know they want to feel better but do not know where to begin. Others are already working with physicians, massage therapists, trainers, nutrition professionals, health coaches, or other practitioners but may feel that no one is helping them connect all the pieces.

A Wellness Strategist does not replace your physician or other licensed healthcare providers. Instead, the role is designed to help you step back and look at the fuller picture of your well-being.

Through a Wellness Discovery Assessment and Personal Wellness Blueprint, we can help you:

  • Clarify what you want your future health and daily life to look like

  • Recognize habits, assumptions, and patterns that may no longer support you

  • Identify your most important wellness priorities

  • Understand where additional education, support, or professional guidance may be helpful

  • Create a realistic and personalized direction for your next steps

  • Connect with appropriate practitioners or services when needed

  • Avoid trying to change everything at once

This is the Empty Cup philosophy in practice. Before adding another diet, exercise plan, supplement, treatment, or list of things you “should” be doing, we begin by examining what is already filling your cup.

What is still serving you?
What needs to be reconsidered?
What are you ready to release?
What do you want to protect—and intentionally choose next?

Who Should Attend?

This class may be especially helpful if you:

  • Want to remain active and independent as you age

  • Feel overwhelmed by conflicting health and wellness information

  • Know something needs to change but are unsure where to begin

  • Are managing several wellness concerns at the same time

  • Want a clearer, more coordinated approach to your care

  • Are interested in understanding the Wellness Discovery Assessment and Personal Wellness Blueprint

  • Want to be more proactive rather than waiting for a health concern to become a crisis

You do not need to arrive with a diagnosis, a detailed goal, or a perfect wellness plan. Come with your questions and a willingness to look at health and aging from a broader perspective.

Your lifespan is the number of years in your life. Your healthspan is the amount of life, ability, and meaning you are able to experience within those years.

Join us as we explore how to support both—and learn how the Wellness Strategist program can help you choose what comes next..
